Updating your profile
Last updated: June 29, 2026
Why keep your profile up to date?
Your profile is used throughout the platform to identify you. Instructors see your name and photo when reviewing assignments, and other learners may see your profile when the platform includes social or collaborative features. Keeping your profile accurate and professional helps instructors give you personalized feedback and ensures your certificates display the correct name.
What you can update
- First name and last name — these are displayed on your certificates and in instructor gradebooks, so make sure they match the name you want to appear on official documents.
- Profile photo — a clear, professional photo helps instructors and peers recognize you. The platform accepts JPG and PNG files up to 5 MB. Square images work best.
- Bio — a short paragraph about yourself, your role, or your learning goals. This is optional and may or may not be visible to other users depending on your organization's settings.
- Job title and department — if your organization has enabled these fields, fill them in to help administrators track learning progress by team or role.
How to update your profile
- Click your avatar or initials in the top-right corner of any page on the platform.
- Select Profile Settings from the dropdown menu.
- On the Profile Settings page, click into any field you want to change and type your updated information.
- To upload a new photo, click the camera icon overlaid on your current avatar, then select a file from your device. A crop tool will appear to let you frame the image.
- When you are done, click Save Changes. Your profile updates immediately across the platform.
Tips and common questions
- If you use single sign-on (SSO), some profile fields — typically your name and email — may be managed by your identity provider and cannot be changed directly in the platform. Contact your IT team to update those fields.
- Your email address is your login credential and is managed separately on the Security tab. Contact your administrator if you need to change the email address on your account.
- Profile photos are resized automatically. Very small images may appear blurry — aim for at least 200 × 200 pixels.
- If your name on an existing certificate is incorrect, updating your profile will not automatically regenerate past certificates. Ask your administrator to regenerate the certificate for you.
