Completing quizzes and assignments

Last updated: June 29, 2026

Quizzes

Quizzes are embedded within course lessons and are used to check your understanding of the material covered. When you reach a quiz lesson, read the instructions at the top carefully — they will tell you how many questions there are, whether the questions are timed, and how many attempts you are allowed. Then follow these steps:

  1. Read each question carefully. For multiple-choice questions, consider all options before selecting your answer. For open-text questions, write a clear and concise response.
  2. Use the Next button to move between questions. If the quiz allows you to go back, use the Previous button to review earlier answers before submitting.
  3. When you are satisfied with your answers, click Submit Quiz.
  4. Your score is displayed immediately after submission. If you meet or exceed the passing score, the lesson is marked complete and your course progress updates. If you do not pass, check whether retakes are available — the quiz instructions will state the number of allowed attempts.

Assignments

Assignments differ from quizzes in that they typically require you to produce a piece of work — a written response, an uploaded file, or a link to an external resource — which is then reviewed by an instructor. Here is how to submit an assignment:

  1. Open the assignment lesson and read the instructions thoroughly before you start working.
  2. Prepare your submission: write your response in the text editor provided, or create your file (document, spreadsheet, image, etc.) using the tools of your choice.
  3. Click Upload to attach a file, or paste your written response directly into the text box.
  4. Review your submission one final time, then click Submit Assignment.
  5. You will receive a confirmation message on screen and a notification email. The lesson will show a Pending review status until your instructor grades it.

After submission

Your instructor will review your assignment and may leave written feedback alongside a grade or a pass/fail decision. You will receive a notification when grading is complete. To view the feedback, return to the assignment lesson inside the course — the instructor's comments will appear below your submitted work.

Troubleshooting quizzes and assignments

  • Quiz timer ran out before I could submit: Timed quizzes are often auto-submitted when the timer reaches zero. Check your score — it may have been recorded. If not, contact your instructor to request another attempt.
  • File upload failed: Check the file size and format. Most platforms accept PDF, Word (.docx), and image files (JPG, PNG) up to a maximum size shown on the upload dialog.
  • I cannot see my grade: Grading may still be in progress. You will receive a notification when your instructor has finished reviewing.
  • No retakes available: Contact your instructor or administrator to ask whether an additional attempt can be granted.
