Earning your certificate
Last updated: June 29, 2026
What is a certificate of completion?
A certificate of completion is a digital document that confirms you have successfully finished a course. It is generated automatically by the platform once you meet all of the completion requirements defined by the course instructor. Certificates can be downloaded as a PDF and shared with employers, professional networks, or educational institutions to demonstrate your learning.
Certificate requirements
The exact requirements vary by course, but typically you must:
- Complete every lesson in the course, reaching 100% progress.
- Pass all quizzes that have a minimum passing score set by the instructor. If a quiz allows multiple attempts, you need to pass it within the allowed number of tries.
- Have all assignments graded with a passing result. Assignments that are pending review will delay certificate generation until the instructor completes grading.
- Meet any minimum time requirements if the course enforces a minimum watch or read time per lesson. Skipping through video content faster than the minimum time threshold may prevent the lesson from being counted as complete.
Downloading your certificate
- Once all requirements are met, you will receive a notification that your certificate is ready.
- Click your avatar or initials in the top-right corner of the navigation bar and select My Certificates.
- Find the course in your certificates list. Each entry shows the course name, completion date, and the issuing organization.
- Click Download PDF to save the certificate to your device, or click Copy link to get a shareable public URL you can add to a professional profile.
Sharing your certificate
The shareable link generated for each certificate leads to a verification page where anyone can confirm the certificate is genuine. You can paste this link into LinkedIn, a resume, or an email to share your achievement with others.
Troubleshooting certificates
- Certificate not appearing after I finished the course: Wait a few minutes and refresh the page. Certificate generation can take up to five minutes after all requirements are met.
- Progress is at 100% but no certificate yet: Check whether any assignments are still marked Pending review. You need instructor grades on all gradable items before the certificate is issued.
- I passed the quiz but the certificate is not available: Confirm that you have also completed every non-quiz lesson. All lessons must be marked complete, not just assessed ones.
- The PDF shows incorrect information: Contact your platform administrator. If your name is wrong, it may be possible to update your profile and regenerate the certificate.
For help updating the name printed on your certificate, see Updating your profile in the Your Account collection.
